Sea, sun, Royal Sky Group and Xenion!

What a pity that all good things come to an end! The children’s trip to the English camp in Cyprus, Xenion, came to an end. The children and teenagers are already in Minsk – tanned, rested and with excellent English. They do not hide their delight of the trip and actively share their impressions.

The young campers and their parents were incredibly satisfied with the trip, which is the best reward for our work.

Because of the pandemic and closed borders, tourism is going through bad times, but even now children need to relax and improve their English. So as soon as the air borders of Cyprus opened, we started to actively monitor the offers of local English camps and settled on Xenion.

Why Xenion? Because I was impressed by both the curriculum and the leisure options, all combined with a very pleasant price.

Xenion School (one of the best in Cyprus) is located just 40 minutes from Larnaka Airport, in the picturesque resort of Paralimini.

The school possess and offers the following:

• an impressive well-appointed audience;
• with well-appointed rooms for three children;
• full board (varied three meals a day, tailored to individual needs);
• modern spacious classrooms and computer labs;
• well-equipped recreation rooms, sports grounds and swimming pool;
• an extensive sightseeing program with an English-speaking guide;
• luxurious options for beach holidays and other nice options.

The programme includes 20 English lessons per week from qualified teachers, study materials and an A-level certificate that is recognised in Europe and the USA.

Anyway, we decided – let it be! We chose Pauline as our group leader , did a really significant job in preparing border transfer permits, certificates and other documents, and sent the guys to Cyprus.

TRAVEL EXPERIENCE

The departure was planned from Kyiv airport (Boryspil). There was some delay at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border, and if it were not for the impressive packages of documents we had collected for each child, it is quite possible that the trip would not have taken place.

But all’s well that ends well: our young tourists with Pauline at the head did pass the border, went to Boryspil and flew to Cyprus. Upon arrival, they took a mandatory PCR test and presented a flight pass (we knew about it, so there were no surprises). By the way, we needed the flight pass more than once: without it we were not allowed into any public place, up to the shops!

The group was met by the camp staff and taken to the place of rest and study. The children were immediately impressed by the charming boarding house, cozy rooms, splashing nearby turquoise sea and very tasty food.

The school and the residential building (built in 2020, brand new) are literally a few steps away from each other. Comfortable rooms for three people are combined into an apartment with two bathrooms and a kitchenette.

The food was a delight with variety: every day there was a new menu. There were various and all sorts of tasty things the kids loved so much: rolls with chicken, nuggets, lasagne, hummus, pasta, fish and chips and so on.

There was an opportunity to choose a dietary or vegetarian menu.

From Monday to Friday, the children studied from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. None of them complained about the teacher or boredom in the lessons – everyone absorbed knowledge with pleasure.

The most fun time began after studying. The children were taken daily to new beaches and interesting excursions, and weekends were entirely devoted to rest and saturation with fantastic impressions!

All the time the guys were in an English-speaking environment. They communicated in English not only with the teachers, but also with the staff of the boarding house, the guide, shop assistants and so on. So it is not surprising that the level of language competence has improved in all areas: reading, writing, listening, speaking.

The program resulted not only in magical impressions and gorgeous Mediterranean tan, but also in certificates, which will surely help children when entering foreign schools, colleges and universities.

INSTEAD OF A POSTSCRIPT

We would be wrong if we said that the preparation and accompaniment of the trip of our young campers was easy. No, we did a lot of work, we reissued documents several times due to the changed requirements, we monitored the situation round the clock.

Working with tourists in the pandemic era becomes several times more difficult, but we made it. Yes, it was not easy! But we hope that the guys didn’t notice it, because nothing should have spoiled their serene vacation.
