What can be better than the mountains? Only mountains at New Year holidays! Hurry up: there is still a chance to jump into the last carriage and provide yourself an incredibly fun and adrenaline-pumping vacation against the backdrop of mind-blowing mountain scenery.

MOUNTAINS, ADRENALINE AND FUN: MAY THE COVID BE AFRAID!

It is possible to understand people who prefer to celebrate the New Year with a family. It is possible to get into feelings of those who want to return to summer and celebrate the holiday on a lounger by the turquoise edge of the warm sea for at least a few days.

But the mountains are something special, consonant to any Slavic soul. The bright sun flooding the track, sparkling snowflakes rising from under the skis, stunning panoramas from the lifts, authentic restaurants, intricately scattered on the slopes…

And, of course, the New Year with its dear to the heart attributes: snow, Christmas tree and unbridled joy overflowing over the edge!

Unfortunately, the last season was a failure: the closed borders did not allow us to have fun and enjoy ourselves. This year, 2021, we have a chance to spend the winter holidays in a much more fun and healthy way.

Covid is an unpleasant disease, especially affecting people with weakened immune system. So, it’s time to strengthen it, and for those who have recovered from it, it’s time to undergo full rehabilitation. And you won’t find a better place than a good ski resort.

Borders are not fully opened yet, but the loopholes you can squeeze through, especially if they are being kept for you by professionals of tour business. But we have to hurry up, because people, who hunger for overall mountaineering rest and quality mountain biking, are snapping up places like hot cakes on frosty days.

Sochi (Krasnaya Polyana), Italy and Turkey, which by no means should be neglected, remain available for now. And you can go there, if you do not think for a long time. So, let’s go!

KRASNAYA POLYANA: THE RUSSIAN WAY OF A NEW YEAR!

On New Year’s Eve, even alcohol-free people drink and have fun – it’s such a magical holiday. In Europe, however, New Year’s Eve is not a popular holiday; Christmas is more popular there. Conclusion: if you want to really party in the company of like- minded people, you need to go to a place where they share your desires and views.

Vacation in Krasnaya Polyana is a blessing for Slavic mentality. It’s a dopey native atmosphere, but generously seasoned with great service, decent company of like-minded people and fantastically delicious mountain air.

They will definitely understand your jokes (even not very decent ones), won’t reproach you for not too tolerant views, will gladly sing “New Year is rushing to us” at karaoke and with a truly childish enthusiasm will call maybe not too sober, but so dear “Dedushka Moroz”, rather than some out-of-the-way Santa Claus. And also riding on troikas, snowballs, fireworks and general fraternization peculiar to wide Slavic natures – in a word, it will be cool!

Skiing and related options

Krasnaya Polyana is now a world-class resort: the main infrastructure, left over from the Olympics, has only been improved over time. In fact, there are several resorts and ski areas in the vicinity of Krasnaya Polyana, each of which deserves the closest attention.It is easy to get lost in the branding of Krasnaya Polyana resorts, but it does not matter: the main thing is that among the numerous slopes of Rosa Khutor, GTC Gazprom (Laura+Alpica) and former Gorky Gorod (nowadays Krasnaya Polyana) there is something for all levels of skiers!

Krasnaya Polyana means numerous ski-parks, immense freeride stretches, red slopes for confident skiers and dizzying black slopes for professionals who like to get high on adrenaline. By the way, the local slopes are consistently ranked among the top ten in the world.

Beginners won’t get lost here either: there are perfectly prepared green and blue slopes in all the areas, but most of them at Gazprom Laura and Krasnaya Polyana. Ski schools are also abundant in the area. You must admit that it is much more pleasant to learn skiing from a Russian-speaking person than from a foreigner: you do not have to overcome comprehension difficulties when you are thinking about something completely different!

We must not forget about the splendid new lifts connected to the grandiose “Carousel” which gives an opportunity to reach not only the most chamber areas, but also the whole range of mountain cafes and restaurants, of which there are a great many in Krasnaya Polyana!

If you get hungry outside the hotel (and you will definitely get hungry!), it’s worth to pay attention to:

“Buns in the Mountains. A lovely place with dizzying views for a fabulous lunch. They serve really fantastic pastries with coffee and tea.

Greco Megusto. A cozy restaurant with Greek cuisine, adequate prices and generous portions. You can also take food to go. Everything is very decent, inexpensive and tasteful.

“Freedom. An inexpensive restaurant, very popular with holidaymakers. Lunches are especially good here, the choice is smaller in the evenings, unusually democratic prices and an extensive menu.
It really is culinary nirvana: a stunningly cosy place for families and romantic get- togethers. There are non-stop cartoons during the day and great music in the evening.

Altitude 2320. A fantastic alpine style restaurant located right on Rosa Peak. Excellent service, very tasty menu and varied drink list generously seasoned with fantastic mountain panoramas.

Experienced skiers prefer to take advantage of another unique feature of Cervinia: the proximity to Zermatt in Switzerland, famous for its challenging tracks for the pros. It can be reached either by lift or skibus and can be done with a single ski pass!

Yes, Turkey can not boast a century-long skiing tradition or dizzying drop in altitude. However, not only beginners, but also confident skiers who are not too keen on extreme skiing can have a decent time there. Turkish style skiing is first of all a wonderful relaxation in the frame of the infamous and beloved “All inclusive”.

But don’t think that the slopes will be teeming with tipsy skiers, displaying their mind- blowing wackiness, dangerous to others. You’ve seen a lot of such people on Turkish beaches, haven’t you?
